Bouldering (boulder, American English for
blocks) is a new, young and dynamic form of
climbing. One straightforwardly climbs to the
jumping height at the most, without a rope or
hooks, and usually sideways. Initially bouldering
was just used as a training method for extensive
climbing tours. But in the meantime many climbers
specialised in bouldering.
As it is part of the nature of a real sport also bouldering
may be exercised on a high level, i.e. long
and arduous tours as well as short tours may be
climbed with a maximum of forceful exercises...
